 History of the Centre

The site was given to the Woodcraft Folk in 1974 by a Jewish boys` youth club. The Woodcraft folk is a national voluntary youth organisation for boys and girls. It is a fully recognised part of the youth service and a registered educational charity.

A central feature of the organisation is that it has a co-operative outlook; encouraging children the values of team work through play and adventure activities - rather than competition. Working together and sharing work responsibilities are the basis of group life and everyone, including the smallest child, is made to feel involved.

This philosophy is reflected in the day to day life at the Centre where everybody is encouraged to join together in the spirit of co-operation whilst enjoying the many attractions the Centre has to offer
